Đorđević and Amb. Perl on cooperation with Poland and philatelic activities
Acting Director of PE Post of Serbia Zoran Đorđević hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Serbia Rafał Perl, with whom he discussed opportunities for the improvement of cooperation between the Posts of Serbia and Poland, expressing openness to all forms of cooperation aiming to transfer and exchange experiences and advanced technological practices.
The occasion of the meeting was the issuance of the commemorative postage stamp entitled “Famous World Writers” depicting Stanislaw Lem (1921-2006), in honour of the centenary of the birth of this famous Polish writer and one of the world's most famous science fiction writers, which the Post of Serbia released on December 1, with the idea of recalling on Lem's literary achievements and influence on the development of world science fiction literature.
Lem was the winner of numerous awards and recognitions of the Republic of Poland for literary work and popularization of Polish culture in the world, as well as international awards and recognitions. He was a member of the Polish Academy of Arts, received an honorary doctorate from the University of Opole, the Lviv State Medical University and others, a winner of the Order of the White Eagle and an honorary citizen of Krakow.
Within the issue “Famous World Writers”, stamps commemorating Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, Charles Baudelaire and Rabindranath Tagore were as well published.
