Special philatelic edition and gold stamp – 650 years of City of Kruševac
On the occasion of the celebration of the 650th anniversary of the City of Kruševac, the Post of Serbia issued a special philatelic edition with the sights of that city, within which, for the first time in Serbia, a gold commemorative stamp was made. Acting Director of the PE Post of Serbia, Zoran Đorđević, presented a gold stamp in Kruševac today, which was made in only one copy.
“The Jubilee of the City of Kruševac is one of the most important events for Serbia, to which the Post of Serbia contributes with the historical event for Serbian national philately - by issuing a gold postage stamp, which represents a sign of special respect we want to dedicate to the “imperial city” - the City of Kruševac, one of the symbols of our rich history”, said Director Đorđević.
Internationally, gold postage stamps are made only by the world's largest postal operators. The gold postage stamp of the Post of Serbia represents a symbol of the City of Kruševac – a monument to Kosovo's heroes, and it is made using the technique of laser engraving of yellow gold.
The Post of Serbia and the PTT Museum, in cooperation with the Society for Culture, Art and International Cooperation “Adligat”, joined the celebration of the jubilee of the City of Kruševac with a special exhibition of rare and valuable objects related to the history of this city. In the Main Post Office in Kruševac, an extremely rare medieval female ring from the first half of the 14th century, a saber from the First Serbian Uprising of the “Kilij” type with a holster and two exceptional Austrian maps from the 17th and 18th centuries are being exhibited, which testify to the fact that, even during the Ottoman occupation of Serbia, Austria and Europe considered Kosovo and Metohija an integral part of Serbia. These exhibits are part of the “Adligat” collection, which this Society donated exclusively to the PTT Museum for this occasion.
