Cosmonauts close "Serbian and Russian philately on space" exhibition

Russian cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and his colleague Anastasia Stepanova closed the exhibition "Russian and Serbian Philately on Space" at the PTT Museum today, which was opened on 12 April, the day when 60 years ago, Yuri Gagarin was the first man in history to fly to space. PE Post of Serbia organised the exhibition helped by the State Corporation of the Russian Federation for Space Activities "Roscosmos", whose member is Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, and supported by the association "Adligat".

The first visit of an active Russian cosmonaut to Serbia after 52 years was realised thanks to the cooperation of the Acting Director of PE Post of Serbia Zoran Djordjević with the director of "Roscosmos" Dimitrij Rogozin and represents the continuation of cooperation that began in April, when the Post of Serbia issued a philatelic edition "60th Anniversary of the First Manned Flight into Space."

The Post of Serbia organised the visit of Russian cosmonauts in order to fulfill the wish of children suffering from cancer, who participated in the international project of the Russian humanitarian organisation "Unity" and "Roscosmos", within which children from Serbia sent 34 art works which were transferred to a space suit called "Dreamer". Their dreams, transferred to a space suit, were taken to the International Space Station by Russian cosmonauts, and we gladly fulfilled the wish of these brave children to meet their heroes - cosmonauts ", said Zoran Djordjević, acting. Director of the Post of Serbia and added that the works were painted at a special workshop organised on that occasion for our children in the PTT Museum - the Next One to Fly into Space.

Sergey Kud-Sverchkov spent 185 days on the International Space Station, from which he returned on 17 April, and Serbia is the first country he visits after his stay in space.

Both he and his colleague, Anastasia Stepanova, thanked the Post of Serbia for the exceptional reception and the opportunity to socialise with the children who participated in this international project and the opportunity to bring joy and hope to the children that their dreams can come true.
