Russian cosmonauts and the Post of Serbia support the children with cancer
Today, the Post of Serbia organised a gathering of Russian cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and his colleague Anastasia Stepanova with children suffering from cancer at the PTT Museum. Organised by the Foundation "Together for the Young - Dr Danica Grujičić", these children, as authors of 34 art works, participated in the international programme of the State Corporation of the Russian Federation for cosmic activities "Roscosmos" and Russian charity "Unity" which helps cancer patients.
Within this programme, drawings of children from Serbia, together with the works of children from nine other countries, decorated the space suits, which were named "Dreamer" because the works represent the expressions of dreams and wishes of small authors. On 9 April, Russian cosmonauts took these suits to the International Space Station, where they were welcomed by a guest of the Post of Serbia, cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, who stayed in space from October last year until 17 April.
Kud-Sverchkov and Anastasia Stepanova, who is also a researcher at the Russian Academy of Sciences, during a gathering with children at the PTT Museum, realised an art therapy workshop under the programme of the humanitarian organisation "Unity", of which they are both ambassadors. For that occasion, they brought special didactic equipment from Russia, and at the end of the workshop, they distributed diplomas to the children.
Russian cosmonauts, who are staying in our country in the organisation of the Post of Serbia, were previously welcomed by the Acting Director of the PE Post of Serbia, Zoran Djordjević, to whom they gave a photo of a spacecraft that took our kids’ drawings to space.
On that occasion, Zoran Djordjević pointed out that the Post, as a socially responsible company, is fighting for a better position not only for its employees, but also for all citizens of Serbia, and especially for sensitive social groups.
"We are especially pleased with the information that the participation of children with cancer from Serbia in the international project of the Russian organisation "Unity" and "Roscosmos", had a positive effect on their health. We are happy that the Post, as the organiser of today's visit of Russian cosmonauts, was given the opportunity to provide an additional contribution through the gathering of these little heroes with cosmonauts - the heroes of the modern age", said Zoran Djordjević.
Cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Anastasia Stepanova will solemnly close the exhibition "Serbian and Russian Philately on Space" organised by the Post on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the first manned space flight on Friday, 25 June, at the PTT Museum.
