Pošta Srbije and Embassy of Mexico mark 80 years of diplomatic relations

Pošta Srbije and the Embassy of Mexico in the Republic of Serbia marked the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Mexico by ceremonially presenting a personalized postage stamp dedicated to this significant anniversary.

This special philatelic issue honours eight decades of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect between the two countries and is a symbol of the enduring strength of their bilateral relations. At the same time, it confirms the commitment of Serbia and Mexico to continue strengthening cooperation and political dialogue, as well as economic, academic, cultural and sports exchanges.

Director of Pošta Srbije, Zoran Anđelković, pointed out that a personalized postage stamp represents much more than a commemorative philatelic issue.

"Eight decades is a serious period in the cooperation between two countries, and what is even more important is that in those eight decades, Serbia and Mexico have not had any disputes. This stamp testifies to the friendship, mutual respect and successful relations that our countries have been nurturing for eighty years," said Anđelković and thanked the artistic team of Pošta Srbije who participated in the creation of the stamp.

He added that the citizens of Serbia express special sympathy for Mexico and wished success to that country's national team at the World Cup.

The Ambassador of Mexico to the Republic of Serbia, His Excellency Carlos Félix Corona, thanked Pošta Srbije for its cooperation and support in the realization of this issue.

"This issue recognizes eight decades of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect, as well as the strength of the ties between the two peoples. Relations between Mexico and Serbia over the past 80 years have been positive and filled with understanding, with continuous political dialogue based on mutual respect and friendship," said Ambassador Corona.

He emphasized that cultural exchange, academic cooperation, artistic initiatives and contacts between citizens are some of the most important foundations of relations between two countries, contributing to their further rapprochement.

During the ceremony, it was emphasized that bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Mexico is continuously developing through high-level meetings and exchanges, cooperation with local self-governments, as well as through parliamentary diplomacy and institutional contacts.

The personalized postage stamp depicts the National Museum of Serbia in Belgrade and the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City, as recognizable symbols of the cultural heritage of the two countries.

The ceremonial presentation of the personalized postage stamp was held at the PTT Museum in Belgrade.
