186 years of Pošta Srbije – "eMailCarrier" service has been launched
Pošta Srbije celebrated its day on June 7, marking the start of provision of a new digital service "eMailCarrier". Another innovative chapter and milestone in digital development and business automation was announced at a ceremony held at the Regional Postal and Logistics Centre "Belgrade" by Acting Director Zoran Anđelković, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Boris Bratina, and Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Mihailo Jovanović.
The "eMailCarrier" service enables electronic delivery of letterpost correspondence to recipients in eMailboxes on the eGovernment portal. It ensures that private and business users can receive bills, notifications and other electronic documents in eMailboxes more efficiently, faster and with the highest level of security, while being notified of receipt via e-mail, SMS, or Viber message, at the user's choice. It includes proof of sending and receiving the item, a delivery confirmation, as well as the possibility of tracking the item. "eMailCarrier" is a modern counterpart to the classic registered postal item, and its availability is 24 hours a day.
Minister Boris Bratina said that the history of Pošta Srbije is at the same time the history of the modernization of our state. "From the first carrier pigeons and letter carriers to today's modern logistics system, Pošta has remained synonymous with reliability, punctuality and accessibility to every citizen of Serbia, regardless of distance or circumstances," said Minister Bratina. He expressed expectations that Pošta Srbije will continue to successfully combine, as he said, centuries-old traditions with modern technologies in the future, as well as that successful cooperation with the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications will continue on the creation of new legal frameworks and regulations that support the development of services and digital transformation in accordance with the highest global standards.
"As of today, Pošta can send documents to end users of legal entities through the Unified Electronic Mailbox system. This platform was developed based on the needs of citizens and businesses for the services of the so-called qualified electronic delivery, as a trusted service, because the delivery of electronic documents is guaranteed, as well as on the aspiration to ensure the sustainability of postal services in the digital age," said Mihailo Jovanović. Director Jovanović congratulated the management and employees of Pošta Srbije on, as he put it, "a great technological victory and a step forward in the waters of electronic delivery", and promised all the necessary support of the Office in further technical and technological development.
Director Zoran Anđelković spoke about the new service as another great result in the field of digital transformation of postal services, where numerous bill issuers, banks and other institutions that send notifications to users can now do so with greater ease. "I am convinced that very soon we will have several million, ten million postal items per month. Because this is the future and Pošta Srbije, together with the Government of Serbia, is making a huge step forward," Anđelković said.
Anđelković announced that another new robotic logistics centre in Subotica, the sixth in the system of Pošta Srbije, will be opened by the end of the year, and revealed plans to purchase humanoid robots that will further support sorting processes. As he said, Pošta Srbije is doing all this for its employees and customers, because in addition to making everyday tasks easier for employees, customers receive a higher quality service, while it brings completely new opportunities to the market for the development of digital services and services related to e-commerce and further development of competition.
As part of a reserved service provided exclusively by Pošta Srbije, e-delivery in the form of the "eMailCarrier" service is the result of successful engagement on amendments to the Law on Postal Services in the previous year, with the support and cooperation of the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Office for eGovernment. The service is intended for utility companies, state institutions, telecommunications companies, banks and other business entities that issue bills and send postal notifications and other important documents to users, as it allows recipients to receive all digital postal items in one place, simply and securely, with delivery confirmation.
Pošta Srbije celebrates its birthday on June 7, the date when public postal service began operating in Serbia in 1840. Today, 60 new electric delivery vehicles were allocated to mail carriers and delivery employees across Serbia. Traditionally, the best employee in the field of technological affairs for the previous year was announced, and this prestigious award was received by delivery employee Jovan Janić, from Post Office 22000 Sremska Mitrovica.
