Commemorative postage stamp to the General Staff for 150 years of service

Belgrade, February 19, 2026 Тhe exhibition "150 Years of the General Staff 1876–2026 – A Century and a Half in the Service of the Homeland" was officially opened at the Home of the Serbian Armed Forces in Belgrade in the presence of numerous representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces and other high-ranking officials.

On this occasion, the Director of Pošta Srbije, Zoran Anđelković, presented the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, a commemorative postage stamp issue in honour of the anniversary.

Zoran Anđelković extended his congratulations on the occasion of 150 years of tradition and existence of the General Staff and expressed his satisfaction with the postage stamp issue, which is a symbolic contribution to commemorating the anniversary. He said that the philatelic activity of Pošta Srbije carefully and faithfully records dates and anniversaries and, in a fitting manner, recognizes those who deserve it for their tradition, importance and contribution to the state and citizens.

The gift issue for General Mojsilović includes a set – a sheet of eight with a vignette and an First Day Cover of the issue “150 Years of the General Staff”. The production of the commemorative postage stamp issue, which was released into circulation on February 10, was expertly assisted by Colonel Professor Dalibor Denda, PhD from the Institute for Strategic Research of the University of Defence, while the artistic realization of the issue was the work of Jakša Vlahović, the creator of stamps for Pošta Srbije.

Chief of the General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, thanked the guests, Pošta Srbije and Director Anđelković for their cooperation and partnership in marking all important dates of the Serbian Armed Forces and other dates of importance to state institutions and citizens.

He said that the exhibition testifies to the institutional continuity and professional development of the General Staff through various historical periods, as he pointed out - often in very complex circumstances, and that through selected museum exhibits and documents, it points to the importance of knowledge, organization and responsibility in the construction and development of military institutions.

The opening ceremony featured a trailer for a documentary film celebrating the anniversary, which is scheduled to premiere in March this year, and for the first time show to the public colour material from 1940, provided by the Yugoslav Film Archive. The musical part of the program featured a performance by the mixed choir of the Art Ensemble of the Military of Defence "Stanislav Binički".

The exhibition "150 Years of the General Staff - A Century and a Half in the Service of the Homeland", organized by the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Military Museum and the Media Centre "Odbrana", is open to visitors at the Home of the Serbian Armed Forces until April 15.
