Robots have started working on parcel sorting at the Postal Centre in Niš

Niš, May 17, 2025 – The Post of Serbia has launched a robotic system for automated sorting of postal items at the main postal centre in Niš, which will significantly improve the standards of processing postal items, the working conditions of employees and the quality of service provided to customers.

The guests were welcomed by Miljan Raičević, Director of the Working Unit “Niš”, who expressed his satisfaction with the successful implementation of the project. He said that the postal centre in Niš will continue to expand its capacity and develop logistics services in line with the needs of growing air traffic, which will further position the city of Niš and the Post on the market and the map of the Republic of Serbia.

Deputy Mayor of Niš Luka Gašević commended the project, which he said was important for the modernization of the process, as well as for the city of Niš. He thanked the employees for their efforts in the development of the city.

Zoran Anđelković, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, said that the Post of Serbia has proven that it embraces new technologies and remains committed to the modernization and development of regional and local logistics centres, and to increasing their capacities and improving performance.

"In addition to technical and technological modernization by investing in robotic support, the next thing we plan in Niš is to expand the capacity for technological processes, while the centre will soon receive solar panels and be fully equipped, highly functional and self-sustaining. It will have all the prerequisites to fully respond to the demands of large customers, the largest online retailers, who are demanding automated processing of postal items and short delivery times, as well as to keep up with the cargo traffic that is rapidly developing in this city," said Director Anđelković.

The postal centre in Niš, with an area of 4,500 square metres, is the most important for receiving and processing postal items for the southern and south-eastern regions of Serbia. In addition to the regional postal and logistics centres in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš, the Post of Serbia has provided a robotic system for automated sorting of postal items in Kragujevac and another one is being prepared for Kraljevo, where growth trends in the physical volume of postal items have also been recorded.

"Automation and robotic support are prerequisites for improving existing and creating new services, as well as for increasing the quality of services we provide to customers by constantly increasing reliability, transmission speed and shortening delivery times. These improve the working conditions of employees, facilitate and accelerate their work. This is necessary for the development of the Post of Serbia, in order to maintain the trust of the state, citizens and customers in a stable, secure and modern postal network and high-quality services," concluded Anđelković.

The event was attended by representatives of the City of Niš, the Nišava Administrative District and large companies, the management of the Post of Serbia and directors of working units. The guests had the opportunity to tour the centre, test the work and observe the process of robotic processing of postal items in the technological space of the postal centre.
