New winners of the "Letter to Santa Claus" contest
The Post of Serbia announced the winners of the 4th prize-winning literary and art contest for children under the age of 12 "Letter to Santa Claus". On the topic "Post and Christmas Holidays", among thousands of children's works in 1,100 letters received for the contest by December 20, the expert committee selected 12 winners and awarded three special prizes.
First place in the individual competition was won by Nina Dačić (10), from Futog, for an authentic, strong and imaginatively illustrated poem that stood out for its special emotionality and warmth towards her brother, and Una Gligorijević (12) from Vlasotince, for an artistic triptych with mature illustrations that holds the attention of the audience and unobtrusively draws them into the Christmas story.
The second place winners were Iskra Vujadinov Mitevski (8) from Zrenjanin, the author of a poem that is rhythmic, cheerful and joyous, and that lyrically evokes the atmosphere of the holiday and the joy of giving, and Minja Vuković (6) from Vrbas, awarded for her artwork depicting angels and a multitude of rich decorative details made using a combined technique of felt-tip pen and tempera.
Third prizes were awarded to Miljan Jolović (10) from Lazarevo, for a poem of fine wordplay and noticeable maturity, and Anja Maljković (10) from Belgrade, for a composition that resembles an oversized greeting card with a drawing of a Christmas tree ornament in which she skilfully painted a winter landscape.
The first prizes in the group competition were won by the 4th grade students of the "Goračići" Elementary School from Goračići, for a collection of Christmas poems illustrated with drawings, and the V-4 class of the "Kosta Trifković" Elementary School from Novi Sad, for a mosaic in poster format with a red mailbox and postage stamps joined together using the collage technique.
Second place went to the 5th grade students of the "Stevan Sremac" Elementary School from Senta, for a combination of poems and essays that successfully evoke the festive mood and spirit of giving, and the third grade students of the "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" Elementary School from Subotica, for drawings in the form of a holiday envelope depicting the sleepy streets of a decorated town and scenes of decorating a Christmas tree, in the manner of naive painting.
Third place went to the sixth graders of the "Skadarlija" Elementary School from Belgrade, for their poems and essays that show that children's imagination and creativity know no limits in classical forms and techniques, and the preschool group of the "Little Prince" kindergarten from Belgrade, for their joint work in the form of a poster in the collage technique, with many figures of Santa Claus in a cheerful winter setting.
A special award was given to David Mitrović (8) from Prilužje, for two excellent poems, one of which was written in an acrostic form where the initial letters of the verses form the name of the Post of Serbia, which is an extremely skilful response to the topic.
The second special award was won by the first graders of the "Sveti Sava" Primary School from Klokot in Kosovo and Metohija, for drawings of decorated Christmas trees and gifts with playful shapes and contrasting colours.
A special award was also given to a group of children from the first to third grades of the "Đura Jakšić" Elementary School from the village of Prosek-Jelašnica, who stood out with their mature understanding of tradition and creatively evoked the festive atmosphere with drawings in postcard format.
The committee for selecting the best works in the competition was composed of curators and expert associates of the PTT Museum of the Post of Serbia and fellow artists and creators of postage stamps of the "Srbijamarka" Sector.
Post of Serbia thanks all participants, and awards the winners with vouchers for electronic devices, sports clothing and footwear, and other sports equipment.
