Press Release of Public Enterprise Post of Serbia

We expect a quick response from competent authorities, because on Monday we are expecting a one-time payment for 460,000 pensioners who receive their pensions at home addresses.

PE Post of Serbia is facing a blockade of the Main Postal Center in Zemun since Monday, which makes it difficult to send mail. This state-owned strategic object was illegally blocked by individuals from an unrepresentative union-the "Independent Union of Postal Workers", unscrupulously violating laws on labour, strike and public gatherings, as these protests had not been announced. They call the blockade of this state facility on their official websites "an invitation to socializing". What's more, in front of this strategic object, an unknown group of people, who also blocked entry and exit of official vehicles and caused delays in receiving, processing and delivery of shipments within the legally stipulated deadlines, joined the strikers. On this occasion, the police report was sent three times, but there was no response so far. We appeal to the state authorities to enable the work of the Main Postal Center so that citizens can freely receive their postal items, but also to determine the identity of unknown persons who have usurped the state property.

We expect a quick response from competent authorities, because on Monday we are expecting a one-time payment for 460,000 pensioners who receive their pensions at home addresses. Post of Serbia has 15,000 employees. There are two representative trade unions in which there are about 12,000 employees, as well as several smaller unrepresentative trade unions. However, at the moment only 50 people are gathering and blocking the work of the Main Postal Center every evening. It often happens that only two persons, behaving aggressively, prevent entry and exit of trucks.

We are emphasizing that Post of Serbia is one of the most successful state-owned enterprises, which realized a net profit of 1.7 billion dinars in the first nine months of the year.
