More than 10,300 Children Wrote to Santa Claus

In the prize contest of the Post of Serbia ’’Write to Santa Claus’ from 3 November to 3 December, more than 10,300 girls and boys from all the regions of Serbia up to ten years of age, wrote to Santa Claus.

In the prize contest of the Post of Serbia ’Write to Santa Claus’ from 3 November to 3 December, more than 10,300 girls and boys from all the regions of Serbia, up to ten years of age wrote to Santa Claus. Many children sent their works individually, and group works arrived from 522 kindergartens, preschool institutions and primary schools.

This year Post’s contest, 15th in a row, was characterized by numerous original and interesting works, of which more works of art than the literary ones, and the most creative little authors were awarded at the ceremony organised in their honour on 23 December.

In individual competition the first prize was won by a seven-year-old Nađa Pavlović from Kolari, for the rich art composition, of lively colours, with a mild influence of Japanese comic and illustration. The second prize was won by Stefan Domanović from Užice, who showed enviable poetic talent, despite being nine years old. Stefan wrote a very beautiful poem about the Post’s Santa Claus, who is ’as fast as a dragon’, because he reaches out to every child for the most joyful winter holidays, whether they live in a village or a city. A six-year-old Sara Čapko from Kula represented her talent in drawing and writing, creating a real New Year’s picture book, which granted her the third prize.

Among collective works the first place was won by the Kolibri kindergarten (Preschool institution ’Dragoljub Udicki’) from Kikinda, i.e. 12 children from this kindergarten from 3 to 5 years old. They artistically expressed the world which surrounds them, and each work is unique in terms of technique, colours and expressive display. Their peers from the Belgrade Biser kindergarten (Preschool institution ’Vračar’) won the second prize for the installation 1,5 metres high. In fact, they made a Christmas tree of paper, which they decorated with their imaginative drawings instead of regular holiday decorations. The third on the winning throne were the six-year-olds from Sremska Kamenica, from the Čika Jova kindergarten (Preschool institution ’Joyful Childhood’), because they very successfully showcased the solemn holiday polychromy with a special technique - sgrafitto, uncharacteristic for children.

In the spirit of socially responsible practice, the Post of Serbia invited children again, this year, in the eve of the most joyful winter holidays to the adventure of writing letters to Santa Claus, with the message of nurturing true values and not neglecting their imaginative creative potential even when they grow up.
