Artistic sketches for postage stamps by Đorđe Andrejević Kun at PTT Museum
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth and 60th anniversary of the death of Đorđe Andrejević Kun, a thematic exhibition of the artist's work in the field of philately and applied art has been opened at the PTT Museum. The exhibition "Little-known Đorđe Andrejević Kun: artistic sketches for postage stamps and works of applied art" by author Gordana Rafael will be open until January 31, 2025.
At the opening of the exhibition, author Gordana Rafael said that Kun was an artist with a strong biography dedicated to the universal values of freedom, justice and humanity, and that his life and art send a strong message that these values should be defended unreservedly at all times and in all social and historical circumstances. She thanked the artist's family, with whose support and consent the exhibition was organized.
Artistic sketches for commemorative postage stamps, some of the unadopted conceptual solutions, personal belongings and items, such as painting equipment and an easel that he personally made, manuscripts and photographs, are displayed in the exhibition. Exclusively, for the first time, works of Kun's applied art are exhibited to the public, in addition to the sketches for postage stamps made by the artist's father, Veljko Kun, a xylography and graphic artist, the author of the first multi-coloured banknote in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
