PostEurop 2024 Business Forum in Belgrade has ended
Post of Serbia hosted the PostEurop 2024 Business Forum in Belgrade, which brought together leading figures and international leaders and experts from the postal industry. This forum is a platform for discussions about the latest trends and initiatives that have or may have a significant impact on the postal business.
The forum was opened with the opening speech of Botond Szebeny, general secretary of PostEurop, who said that the Business Forum is an integral part of it and emphasized the importance of cooperation and innovation in the industry.
"PostEurop brings together public postal operators that function within the framework of the Universal Postal Union's regulations," said Szebeny.
The topic of the forum changes every year, and since 2012 it has been organized in parallel with the General Assembly, providing participants with the opportunity to learn more about current postal trends, gain insights from CEOs and delve deeper into ways in which postal services can achieve sustainable social and competitive transformation in challenging times.
Artificial intelligence has been chosen as the topic of this year's forum, with keynote speaker Dexter Thillien, lead analyst for technology and telecommunications at the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), sharing his observations on the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on digital transformation and providing insight into the current situation of AI and its impact on the economy and society.
Mihailo Jovanović, Director of the Office for IT and e-Government of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, also welcomed the participants and welcomed the decision of the Post of Serbia to equip logistics centers in five cities with robots, which would preserve the workforce, and the robots would be a support in increasing speed.
"The application of artificial intelligence has a high place on the priority agenda of the Government of the Republic of Serbia." Back in 2019, we adopted an artificial intelligence development strategy for the period up to 2025, making us the first country in Southeast Europe to have such a strategy and only the 26th country in the world. Serbia thus became a member of the global partnership for artificial intelligence, which ranks us among the 29 countries that are leading in this field," concluded Assoc. Dr. Mihailo Jovanović.
The round table included presentations of innovative projects from various postal organizations. Speakers presented how generative artificial intelligence is being used to improve services, including digital leaps in logistics and transforming data into value.
The speakers focused on the importance of artificial intelligence, innovation and sustainability in the business strategies of postal operators, while the panel discussions enabled the exchange of experiences and challenges in the application of new technologies. During the panel, directors of postal operators shared their experiences in the application of AI and discussed future directions of development. Key topics such as the use of AI in improving services, as well as the challenges they face, such as data availability, are discussed.
Adviser to the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Stefan Badža, spoke at the panel discussion "Artificial Intelligence in Postal Strategies" about Serbia's experience and the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence.
Summarizing the key topics and conclusions with an emphasis on the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation within the industry, the forum officially ended, with thanks to all participants, speakers and organizers who contributed. This important event, which provided a unique opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and experiences, thereby contributing to the future development of the postal industry, ended on an optimistic note with strong support for innovation and sustainability.
