Commemorative stamp honouring the jubilee of the National Ensemble "Kolo"

The Post of Serbia presented an issue of commemorative postage stamps in honour of the 75th artistic season of the National Ensemble "Kolo". Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Anđelković and Acting Director of the National Ensemble "Kolo", Zdravko Ranisavljević, PhD spoke at the event about the philatelic issue and the importance and contribution of the "Kolo" Ensemble in the field of cultural development and cultural diplomacy.

Zoran Anđelković said that the Post of Serbia, as part of its philatelic activity, carefully records and preserves the memory of personalities, events, important dates, anniversaries of institutions of national importance, sports, artistic and cultural, scientific and other achievements.

"This is our contribution to the commemoration and, we hope, an incentive for the Ensemble "Kolo" to be even more numerous and present throughout Serbia, the region and globally, where they will represent our country, history and national culture with their knowledge, skills and wealth of repertoire, and not only everywhere where our citizens live, but also in all other countries, because this is how we spread the spirit and tradition of Serbia", Anđelković concluded.

Zdravko Ranisavljević, PhD pointed out that the Ensemble of folk songs and dances "Kolo", which currently consists of 100 employees, strives to develop its own capacities for the benefit of the national culture and cultural policy of our country.

"In the era of preserving cultural heritage, when the challenges of global culture require responsible behaviour in terms of nurturing personal and collective identities, and above all national, "Kolo" strives to shape its own identity, on the artistic and programmatic level, in accordance with the national strategic priorities in culture represented by the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the relevant Ministry of Culture", said Ranisavljević.

In the artistic part of the program, vocalist Ivana Kojadinović and dancers performed the choreography "Trojno", a shepherd's dance from Eastern Serbia.

The event was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture Miomir Đorđević and many distinguished guests.

The philatelic issue was prepared with the professional cooperation of the "Kolo" Ensemble, while the artistic processing of the issue is the work of Miroslav Nikolić and Nadežda Skočajić, creators of stamps for the Post of Serbia. The commemorative postage stamp features a portrait of Olga Skovran, choreographer, pedagogue, founder and director of the "Kolo" Ensemble and the Ensemble's logo - two dancers in a characteristic folk dance movement.
