Secretary General of PostEurop visiting the Post of Serbia

Post of Serbia hosted the Secretary General of the Association of Public Postal Operators of Europe - PostEurop, Mr. Botond Szebeny. His visit represents an important step in the finalization of preparations for the jubilee 40th General Assembly of PostEurop, which will be held on October 16 and 17 this year in Belgrade.

The purpose of Botond Szebeny's visit was to meet Zoran Anđelković, Acting Director of PE Post of Serbia, which is this year's host. Acting Director Zoran Anđelković informed the Secretary General about the extremely difficult situation of employees in Kosovo and Metohija, the closure of post offices there and detaining of managers, as well as the impossibility of providing services such as payment of pensions, social benefits, salaries and other important benefits to the citizens living in the North of Kosovo and Metohija. They also discussed the current projects and future plans of the Post of Serbia, which include automation of processes, robotization of logistics centres, development of new services, and expansion of the network of parcel machines. The main topics of the discussion were the final agreements and organizational preparations for the upcoming significant event, which contributes to the European postal professional community.

"We have high expectations from this General Assembly." By exchanging professional knowledge and improving theory and practice, we will provide a significant contribution to the European postal professional community. By uniting of all of us for whom the development of the postal industry is a professional choice, inspiration and challenge, we will once again push the boundaries," Anđelković said.

The management of PostEurop and the entire team aim to make the General Assembly a truly unforgettable experience for all participants, that is why this is an important visit, during which Mr. Szebeny met with representatives of the relevant ministry, as well as with the team of the Post of Serbia, which is in charge of organizing the General Assembly and the Business Forum.

PostEurop, founded in 1993, is an association of public postal operators from 53 European countries. With 55 members and coverage of 175,000 sales points, this organization connects 800 million people on a daily basis and strives to improve the postal sector through innovation and the application of new technologies.

The Jubilee General Assembly of PostEurop, one of the most significant annual events in the postal sector at the European level, will gather representatives of 55 public postal operators in Belgrade. Participants will consider the future directions of development of postal services and challenges in an increasingly digitalized world. Special emphasis will be placed on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the postal industry, which will be the main topic of the Business Forum to be held within the General Assembly.

In addition to meeting with the management of the Post of Serbia, Mr. Szebeny also met with representatives of the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia.

The Post of Serbia is one of the oldest postal administrations in Europe and represents the country that founded the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in Bern. The selection of the Post of Serbia as the host of this important event is recognition of its status, competence and role in the European postal sector. The Post of Serbia was a successful host of this event in 2012 and hopes to provide the participants with exceptional memories that they will take away from Belgrade this year as well.
