Bilateral Agreement between the Post of Serbia and the Hungarian Post

Kelebija, August 14, 2024 — PE Post of Serbia and the Hungarian Post today officially signed a Bilateral Agreement that will improve cooperation between the two national postal services in the field of cross-border parcel delivery. The Agreement was signed by the Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Anđelković, and Deputy Director General of the Hungarian Post, Viktor Kohuth.

Zoran Anđelković pointed out: "I proposed that the Agreement be signed right here in Subotica, which is a symbol of our fellowship and historical cooperation, which Hungary and Serbia raised to a historic level owing to the good relations between President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Today's Agreement is important, because it enables an increase in revenue for the Hungarian Post, as well as the Post of Serbia. First of all, this is additional work and a task for all of us, because without an increase in work, there is no increase in revenue, which is the foundation for business development and a better standard for our employees".

Anđelković said that the Post of Serbia is the most important distributor of e-commerce postal items in the country and that it has recorded a big jump in all parcel services and Post Express services in the last month and a half. He pointed out that this cooperation means faster, more simple and affordable delivery of ordered goods for our customers, while the network of Post's parcel machines will expand by the end of the year from the current 500 to 1,000 parcel machines intended for the delivery of postal items.

The Deputy Director General of the Hungarian Post, Viktor Kohuth, thanked Director Anđelković and said, "We are glad to sign this Agreement with you, because we are working on raising our international relations to a higher business level. The Post of Serbia is a very important partner for the Hungarian Post. We promise that there will be no problems from our side, and that we will seek to agree with the Serbian side on all issues in the future. We hope that in the future we will have the opportunity for more new agreements".

According to this Agreement, the two postal services become designated operators for mutual acceptance and delivery of cross-border parcels, with the aim of improving the quality of services and speeding up the delivery process. The Agreement also provides for mutual reimbursement of delivery costs, mutual recognition as a preferred supplier, as well as continuous support and encouragement of high quality services.

Operational procedures within the Agreement will be harmonized with the Convention of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which will ensure the highest standards in the provision of postal services. The Agreement enters into force immediately and is concluded for an indefinite period. It is expected that this cooperation will significantly improve the efficiency of the transmission of postal items, especially those generated through e-commerce, which will further strengthen trade ties between Serbia and Hungary.
