Vouchers throughout Serbia to support people suffering from rare diseases

"Vouchers for the support of people suffering from rare diseases are arriving at thousands of addresses across Serbia," said the Minister of Family Welfare and Demography, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, during the signing of the Memorandum on Cooperation with PE Post of Serbia.

She thanked the Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Anđelković, for his participation in this important project.

"The Post, as an institution that has existed in our country for almost two centuries, shared with us the care for the families and made a contribution so that vouchers for spa treatment, pharmacies, as well as vouchers for one-time financial assistance, reach the homes of people suffering from rare diseases as soon as possible", emphasized Đurđević Stamenkovski.

She pointed out that the signed Memorandum will enable faster and more efficient delivery of vouchers.

"The Post of Serbia is pleased to accept participation in this humanitarian project in order to help those suffering from rare diseases whose treatment requires a lot of financial resources. We will complete the task in record time, and valuable vouchers will surely reach all beneficiaries", said Zoran Anđelković and thanked the Minister for the trust shown.

Anđelković added that the Post of Serbia will continue to contribute to similar initiatives in the future and that the development of a completely new project to support vulnerable categories of the population, especially in rural areas with a large number of single households and mainly elderly population, which should also include the Ministry of Rural Welfare. He reminded that the Post of Serbia reaches all residents and covers all settlements on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, and that in addition to the most extensive infrastructure network, it has 14,200 employees.

"According to the project that we are developing, mail carriers would, during visits to households, independently of regular delivery, keep our customers company, spend some time in conversation with them and provide them with other necessary assistance, in terms of procurement of medicines or foodstuffs, and for this type of engagement, they would receive a certain compensation", Anđelković announced.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in the PTT Museum of the Post of Serbia.
