Winners of the Post’s “100 successful business women” competition announced
The Post of Serbia announced the winners of the national prize competition "100 successful business women" at a ceremony held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
By implementing this competition, selecting and awarding the best female entrepreneurs, founders or legal representatives of small businesses throughout the country, the Post of Serbia has been helping the empowerment of women, the development and promotion of female entrepreneurship for the third year in a row.
According to the Director of the Development Fund and the President of the Commission for the Selection of Winners, Tatjana Matić, data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor show that 24 percent of women give up their entrepreneurial venture because they consider the work to be unprofitable, another reason for giving up is due to global events such as the coronavirus pandemic, while the third reason for giving up their own business, for 18 percent of women, is the impossibility of balancing a professional career and family obligations.
"This exactly is the reason why competitions like these are important for motivating female entrepreneurs, because in addition to concrete support, the public becomes aware of the importance of women's participation in the economic life of Serbia," Matić said.
Branislava Simanić, Director of the Entrepreneurship Sector of the CCIS and a member of the Commission for the Selection of Winners, pointed out that today in Serbia 34 percent of companies and entrepreneurial stores are owned by women, and that this is the result of the joint work of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Development Fund of Serbia and CCIS.
Member of the Board of Directors of AIK Bank and member of the Commission, Jelena Galić, stated that initiatives like these will contribute to Serbia very soon being in competition with the part of Europe that is the most developed in female entrepreneurship, and believes, taking into account the support programmes for female entrepreneurship that are currently active, that female entrepreneurs in Serbia have a bright future ahead of them.
On behalf of PE Post of Serbia, Director of the Working Unit "Zemun", Mira Murić, thanked the winners and pointed out that the Post of Serbia is closing the third round of the competition with great success, the winners of which, who came to today's ceremony from all over Serbia, had the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange entrepreneurial experiences.
"We believe that our support will contribute to the development and increase of your business success, because the best is yet to come," she said.
For the 100 best female entrepreneurs, the Post of Serbia provided a free business presentation in Post of Serbia branches throughout the country, and in order to increase competitiveness on the goods and services market, for the first time this year, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, the winners were provided with trainings covering the most current topics in the domain of running and creating a business.
