Applications for "100 successful business women" until April 8

Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, Tatjana Matić, Director of the Fund for the Development of the Republic of Serbia, Jelena Galić, member of the Steering Committee of AIK Bank, and Branislava Simanić, Director of the Entrepreneurship Sector of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC), invited all female entrepreneurs and legal representatives and founders of small businesses from all over the country to apply for the competition by April 8.

They spoke at the press conference about the application requirements, awards and results of the previous cycles.

"When we talk about female entrepreneurship, most often in the public and in the media we talk about how women balance private and business obligations, about gender equality, and basically, the story of encouraging female entrepreneurship is mostly a story about the economic development of the country. According to SBRA data, 108,575 women entrepreneurs were registered in Serbia at the end of last year, which makes up 34 percent of the total number of registered companies, while almost 41,000 female company owners, or 27.3 percent, were registered in companies. Out of the total number of directors in our companies, only one in four is a woman. This is something we have to work on in order to reduce the differences in all domains," said the President of the Commission, Tatjana Matić, concluding that investing in female entrepreneurship is the most profitable investment in the future.

Jelena Galić expressed her satisfaction at being part of the project and pointed out the importance of such an initiative. "In addition to the educational side and marketing support, in terms of promotion and advertising of their activities, the financial side is also very important, i.e. providing additional sources of financing for the development of female entrepreneurship. As Mrs. Matić pointed out, there are programs within the Development Fund, but there are also programs within international financial institutions that are especially open to financing small and medium-sized enterprises, and within that two lines - green financing, and another one that helps the development of entrepreneurship and female entrepreneurship", said Galić.

"On the initiative of the Post of Serbia, we have been organizing this competition for three years now, the aim of which is to support female entrepreneurship. It is important that we all work together to improve female entrepreneurship and support female businesses. Serbian Chamber of Commerce itself works intensively on empowering women, and there is still a lot of work ahead of us, and this competition will certainly contribute to the increase and better economic position of our female entrepreneurs", said Branislava Simanić, reminding that all the winners of the competition can expect very important educational trainings, which are necessary in order for women to be as competent as possible in running a business.

Director Zoran Đorđević thanked the members of the Commission and the Chamber of Commerce for their support. "For the third year in a row, the Post of Serbia is helping female entrepreneurship in various ways, in the field of postal activities and within the Hybrid Post – in the fields of printing and advertising activities. We spoke with the winners of previous cycles, considered their wishes and suggestions, and determined new support opportunities for this year. In addition to free marketing in brochures and on monitors in post offices, we will additionally empower the best female entrepreneurs with new knowledge and skills, in the form of educational trainings conducted by the Chamber of Commerce. Special prizes are also being prepared, a set of services for business cooperation with the Post, with special benefits, which they will choose themselves. We believe that female entrepreneurs will recognize this opportunity, which helps the economic empowerment of women, the overall development of the economy and the entire country, and that they will respond in even greater numbers," said Zoran Đorđević.
