The president of CC PTT Belgrade, Srđan Smiljković, greeted all the participants at the beginning and said, "We have a period of great success behind us, because we became first league champions in both the men's and women's competition, without losing a single match, with which we made history." We are planning the next tournament for the end of May and it will be dedicated to our long-time member, president and captain, the late Dragan Nedeljković".

The tournament was opened by Alisa Marić, the celebrated Serbian grandmaster, symbolically making the first move.

The competition brought together 12 sections of the PTT Belgrade Chess Club from the working units of the Post of Serbia, and the teams were divided into two groups, from which the best qualified directly to the finals. It was played on three boards, and the tempo was 15 minutes per player.
