Post of Serbia dedicates a stamp to diplomatic jubilee of Serbia and Egypt

Post of Serbia and the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Serbia presented the issue of commemorative postage stamps in honour of the jubilee – 115 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Egypt.

At the ceremony at the residence of the Egyptian Ambassador in Belgrade, H.E. Bassel Salah, Ambassador of Egypt in Serbia, and Adam Sofronijević, Director of "Srbijamarka" of the Post of Serbia spoke about the development and long tradition of diplomatic and friendly relations between the two countries and the motifs of the philatelic issue.

"Issuing a commemorative postage stamp marking the 115th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Serbia is a significant event. I express my sincere gratitude to the Post of Serbia and Srbijamarka for their tireless efforts and fruitful cooperation with the Embassy, which led to the issuance of this unique postage stamp that reflects the strong friendship between Egypt and Serbia," said H.E. Mr. Bassel Salah, Ambassador of Egypt, and added: "The unveiling of the postage stamp is an exceptional way to mark the decade-long history of connection and cooperation between our two countries. I am extremely happy that this postage stamp will go down in history, as it has come at a special moment of our important anniversary.

"The philatelic issue is a valuable symbolic and artistic contribution of the Post of Serbia to the commemoration of the great jubilee of two peoples and states that are, above all, great friends, and another sign that Serbia is committed to building good relations with Egypt, which, we conclude with pleasure, are experiencing new heights in the 21st century - in political relations, economy, tourism, agriculture, as well as in science, information and communication technologies and many other areas. We symbolically remember all the great events that brought new impulses and initiated the building of long-term ties and relations between our countries, we present our tourist offer, cultural and artistic production and strengthen the cultural and creative ties that remain for the future, while the diplomatic jubilee served us as an inspiration. I thank Ambassador Salah and the Embassy of Egypt for the support and promotion of the philatelic issue, which, I can freely say, we can be proud of together", said Adam Sofronijević.

Sofronijević presented Ambassador Salah with a gift issue of commemorative postage stamps with the number 115. The philatelic issue, which contains a commemorative postage stamp printed in sheets of eight stamps with a vignette, a first-day cover and a commemorative stamp, shows the Zindan Gate at Kalemegdan and the Pyramid of Khafre in Giza, Smederevo Fortress in Smederevo and Qaitbay Fortress in Alexandria. The artistic and graphic realization of the issue is the work of Miroslav Nikolić and Marija Vlahović, creators of stamps for the Post of Serbia. Professional cooperation in the realization of the issue was provided by the Embassy of Egypt in Serbia.
