Exhibition "Roads of Friendship and Philately – Serbia and Venezuela"

The exhibition of Venezuelan and Serbian philately "Roads of friendship and philately - Serbia and Venezuela", which was organized by the Society for Culture, Art and International Cooperation Adligat in cooperation with the Post of Serbia, is open until August 1 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade.

The exhibition presents the most significant and largest collection of Venezuelan philately in the region, about 300 postage stamps that richly illustrate the development of Venezuelan philately from the first stamps printed in the 19th century to recent issues, from one of the largest and most significant philatelic collections in our region, which is the heritage of the Adligat Book and Travel Museum.

"Merely a part of our collection is displayed, since there are about 700 different Venezuelan issues in Adligat. Part of the exhibited stamps were collected by Vlada Šestan, the Head of Josip Broz's Office and Yugoslav Ambassador, part belonged to Milan Vukos, Minister of Culture, Director of RTS and Ambassador of Yugoslavia in Venezuela, and part is from my family collection", said Viktor Lazić, honorary President of Adligat.

During a recent official visit to Belgrade, the exhibition was visited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yván Gil Pinto, who did not hide his enthusiasm for the exhibition. On that occasion, the Minister held a lecture for law professors and students on the topic "Foreign policy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the social impact of unilateral coercive measures".

"I couldn't have imagined that I would see something like this in Belgrade," said Minister Gil Pinto, who was particularly delighted with the 1886 postage stamps issued during the Guyana crisis, the unique postage stamp with a large map of Venezuela, and the 1882 stamp issued when relations between the Kingdom of Serbia and the Republic of Venezuela were established.

The exhibition also includes the first Serbian postage stamps, the first stamp printed in 1866 with the image of Prince Mihailo Obrenović, stamps from the era of King Milan and King Aleksandar Obrenović, including stamps from 1882 and a stamp with the image of King Milan, with an error.

The authors of the exhibition are Viktor Lazić and Jovana Trajković, and Jovan Ašler for the part including Serbian collection. It was organized with the support of the Venezuelan ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Dimas Alvarenga Guerra and the support of Prof. Branko M. Rakić, PhD, Head of the Department of International Law and International Relations of the Faculty of Law of the University in Belgrade.
