Gathering of PostEurope Working Groups in Belgrade
The working groups for postal operations and data exchange of the Association of Public Postal Operators of Europe - PostEurope are meeting in Belgrade from April 18 to 20. Representatives from more than 20 European countries and experts from the Postal Technology Centre of the Universal Postal Union, the International Postal Corporation and PostEurope are participating.
The opening of the meetings of the working groups was attended by the Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Đorđević, who addressed the gathering and welcomed the participants and wished them successful work.
"Post of Serbia is one of the oldest postal administrations in Europe, and a representative of the country that was among the 22 founding countries of the Universal Postal Union. In the year when PostEurop celebrates 30 years of existence, we mark 20 years of our membership and successful cooperation with this significant regional organization that represents the interests of public postal operators from all over Europe. The Post of Serbia submitted a candidacy to host the General Assembly of PostEurope in 2024. We hope for good news, because Belgrade was already a successful host of the PostEurope assembly session in 2012, and many of you have great memories of that event," said Đorđević.
The working group meetings discussed the development and improvement of the quality of postal services, the new European regulation on the import of small packets, the quality of data exchange with case studies.
The common goals of environmental protection and sustainability of the postal sector were also symbolically promoted this time. During the tour of the Regional Postal and Logistics Centre Belgrade, the participants planted a tree in front of the main postal centre in Zemun.
