Commemorative postage stamp honouring Njegoš
The Post of Serbia officially presented today the commemorative issue of postage stamps "210 years since the birth of Petar II Petrović Njegoš".
At the event held in premises of the Association of Writers of Serbia, Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, spoke about the motifs and importance of the philatelic issue, cooperation, plans and joint projects of the Posts of Serbia and Montenegro with Dragan Tufegdžić, Executive Director of the Post of Montenegro, and Miloš Janković, President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Writers of Serbia.
"Fostering the fraternal and neighbourly relations between our countries, and in honour of Njegoš, we are marking a new rise in our relations in a commemorative and symbolic way with an extremely important philatelic project, which, we believe, will have a strong impact on our cultural exchange and cooperation. With our colleagues from the Post of Montenegro, we have the opportunity to announce an even closer partnership, which we recently formalized by signing the Protocol on Business Cooperation, which envisages business and technical cooperation through the exchange of best practices, professional knowledge and normative solutions, as well as the development of joint projects, new business solutions and high quality services", said Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia. Đorđević then presented Director Tufegdžić with a gift edition of commemorative postage stamps.
Dragan Tufegdžić, Executive Director of the Post of Montenegro, said "The character and work of Njegoš, whose literary, philosophical and political thought is limitless and timeless, is particularly significant for Montenegro and Serbia." He congratulated the Post of Serbia "for choosing a beautiful motif that unites the great Njegoš and Petr Lubarda, which is why a cultural treasure - a portrait of Njegoš by Petar Lubarda from a private collection - was presented to the public." He added, "The Post of Serbia and the Post of Montenegro, after a long series of years of stagnation in relations, started a nice friendly and partnership cooperation".
The commemorative postage stamp of the issue "210 years since the birth of Petar II Petrović Njegoš" bears an exclusive motif - Portrait of Njegoš by Petar Lubarda, oil on canvas, 1940s, dimensions 96 x 80 cm, from a private collection. The motif on the vignettes and envelopes is the Mausoleum of Njegoš on Lovćen, built according to the design of Ivan Meštrović, the work of Miroslav Nikolić. The graphic realization of the issue is the work of Nadežda Skočajić, the creator of stamps for the Post of Serbia, while the Association of Writers of Serbia provided professional cooperation.
The beginning of the practical implementation of the Protocol on Business Cooperation, which was concluded at the end of December in Podgorica by the Post of Serbia and the Post of Montenegro, is the topic of the current official visit of the President of the Board of Directors of the Post of Montenegro, Igor Bulatović, and the Executive Director, Dragan Tufegdžić, to the Post of Serbia.
