Post of Serbia promoted its candidacy to host the forthcoming UPU Congress
As part of the submission of the candidacy of the Republic of Serbia to hold the Extraordinary Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 2023 in Belgrade, the Post of Serbia hosted a formal reception at the headquarters of the Union in Bern, at which the Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Đorđević, presented the Republic of Serbia as a candidate for the host of the Extraordinary Congress.
Director General of the Universal Postal Union, Masahiko Metoki, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Swiss Confederation, Goran Bradić and Zoran Đorđević, as the host of the meeting and the head of the delegation of the Republic of Serbia, addressed the meeting attended by more than 300 delegates from all over the world.
On this occasion, Đorđević reminded those present that Serbia is one of the founders of the Universal Postal Union, and Belgrade is a city with a wide and open heart and a good host. He pointed out that Belgrade has long proven itself as a very successful organizer of various international gatherings - from political to economic, which as he added all members of the Union will have the opportunity to witness for themselves if the Extraordinary Congress is held in the Republic of Serbia next year.
At the headquarters of the Universal Postal Union this week, the Council of Administration is having its session, and in order to prepare the member countries for the upcoming Extraordinary Congress in 2023, a conference on postal regulations was held, so as to disseminate information and exchange experiences and best practices and to improve the dialogue on the opening of the Universal Postal Union for wider actors in the postal sector.
