85 years of the Belgrade Fair marked with a commemorative postage stamp
The Post of Serbia and the Belgrade Fair today, within the framework of the 65th International Belgrade Book Fair, organized the promotion of a special philatelic issue in honour of the jubilee - 85 years of the Belgrade Fair.
Gorica Škipina, Assistant Director of the Belgrade Fair, and Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, spoke about the motifs of the issue in honour of the most famous institution for organizing fairs and other events and exhibitions in Serbia, at the Post of Serbia stand in the arena of Hall 1 of the Belgrade Fair.
"Recognizing the importance of the Belgrade Fair and its influence on the economic and cultural developments in the country and the region, as well as the positive impact on both current and future economic growth and development, we mark the 85th anniversary of the Belgrade Fair, one of the symbols of Belgrade, with a commemorative postage stamp. I congratulate you on your jubilee, with the desire to continue even more strongly the tradition and reputation of Belgrade as one of the world capitals of fair gatherings", said Zoran Đorđević.
The commemorative issue of postage stamps "85 years of the Belgrade Fair" conveys specific symbols - the Belgrade Fair is one of the three fairgrounds in the world located on the banks of the river, and its Hall 1, circular in shape, with a 109-meter-span dome made of prestressed concrete, was declared a cultural monument. The artistic realization of the issue is the work of Miroslav Nikolić, the creator of stamps for the Post of Serbia, while the professional cooperation in the realization of the issue was provided by the Belgrade Fair.
